The hotel is literally across the street from the sea and there is a convenience store and many little restaurants nearby. The balcony is really a plus.

The room could get some freshening up, especially on the switches, but all in all the room was clean if a bit older than on the photos

Great location, decent room, good value.

The location was excellent! It was right on the beach. Our room also had a balcony with a picnic table and a sink area for outdoor cooking.

It did not have an elevator and was on the 3rd floor, also the common areas were a bit dingy and the bed was really hard, but a hard bed is common in Korea. I think all of the things that are wrong with the hotel are forgivable because of its great location, kind staff and it having a bathtub.

Dirty, Barren, Bleak.... and Overpriced!

The only thing good about it is that it is near the beach. Though, this fact alone will ensure that they never do anything to upgrade the spartan facilities.

Located literally in the shadow of the posh Gangnueng Beach Hotel, the New Hosujang is the kind of hotel that makes you wish when the taxi stops that you're being dropped off in the wrong place. Above a tacky overpriced seafood place, past cobwebs, and nests of wires, you ascend to the "hotel"--really one hallway painted "the yellow wallpaper" yellow. We checked in on one of the busiest weekends of the year (with the accompanying tripled rates), thinking we were going to have a place with a bathtub and a balcony view of the beach. Instead we were greeted with a barren room, with no art and hardly any furniture. The balcony featured a wooden outdoor table with a thick ash cover. Our double bed was really just two twins pushed together. Peeling back the sheets that looked like they'd been walked on by somebody who'd just gone on a hike, we discovered long dark hairs belonging to at least two different people that weren't us. Opening the room's one drawer out of sick curiosity, I saw several stubbed-out cigarettes. When bringing this up with the front desk worker, none of our issues seemed like much of a surprise to her. I guess clean sheets are only something you get if you ask? Truly a bleak experience, but location, location, location I guess?

*distance to beach *nice balkony *room size *nice staff *view

*a lot of hair on the floor In the room and in the toilet... I know it was a busy weekend but that was way to much even we arrive much later then check in time, property have just few room and they can't keep it clean that's to much!!! no toilet paper. Blanket smell like clean but look very dirty and over use, pillow was OK. In room was smell of fish and in toilet smells a lot from severs. We book this place very expensive because of busy season but in my opinion if they cant prepare property room they should keep average price even in busy season.

Location is great, such a relaxing and lovely places to stay, and this accomm. option was fine.

Great location. Decent price. Balcony overlooking lake (in my case) really lovely. Bathroom/shower etc all work great.

If you don't speak Korean interactions with staff are awkward. They can't help with anything. There was a smoked cigarette in the ash tray in my room. Otherwise it was fine. There was construction on the building that began early in the morning so I didn't feel like they cared much about me being there. This was in an off season time, in mid April.

Lovely seaside hotel to the Gangneung Gyeongpo Beach

Direct access to the beach - there are in fact a few motels nearby in case this one is fully-booked, but friendly and helpful staff plus clean sheets. Slightly old but lovely balcony and cannot complain. Don't miss the spectacular sunrise. Will stay here again next time : )

Worst place, by far, that I've ever stayed at in Gangneung.

The beach location is nice. The TV is new. And that's it. There's nothing else redeeming about this place. They could put in a little bit of money to make it decent, but they won't. It's a total dive.

Old worn out former "love" motel. Dead bug splatters on the walls. Dark, cold bathroom. Terrible lighting provided by a single garish LED on the ceiling. You will not be happy staying here. Even if it's cheap--and it's anything but during peak season--pay more to stay elsewhere.

Had a great time in Gangneung and the beach was beautiful and clean!

The location was great, and the balcony with ocean view was a definite plus. The bed and pillows were comfortable and clean. The room was very warm considering it was the middle of February. There are a lot of great seafood restaurants nearby and a 24-hour convenience store downstairs.

There were no bath towels, only a couple of hand towels that were very stiff. The bathroom was not heated. The people running the hotel are friendly but do not speak any English and had a hard time finding our reservation. Also, there were a lot of fireworks going off in the middle of the night.
